SUMMARY:Ready for Winter? Tips for Renters and All Residents
DESCRIPTION:How can we be prepared for winter energy needs? \n  \nLast winter’s high energy costs were a huge shock to many Acton residents. Renters\, in particular\, often have fewer options when facing high bills. This Climate Café session will look at strategies to make apartments and homes as energy efficient as possible\, including ad hoc tips along with Mass Save resources for homeowners and even for renters (including some hands-on materials).  We will also have information about what is happening in the region to address the energy needs of multi-family buildings\, along with resources about special fuel assistance programs for income eligible households. \nThe Climate Café is a fun and informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future. The idea is to provide a forum where people who have experience in certain areas can share their insights and where folks looking to make changes can ask questions about the process. Each week will be a different focus\, with a range of technical and environmental topics.  \nThis event is co-sponsored by EnergizeActon.org and the Acton Memorial Library.

SUMMARY:SHOWING UP! Elders Act on Climate!
DESCRIPTION:Are you wondering what your retirement will look like in this age of climate warming? Are you worried about what your children and grandchildren might face\, but thinking that you are too old to make a difference? Come participate in a lively discussion about what the AARP cohort can do and IS DOING about the climate emergency. We will be joined by representatives of two national organizations–Elder Climate Action and Mothers Out Front–who will share what is happening on the personal\, social\, and political levels as seniors show up to share their voices\, their savvy\, and their monetary might to address the changing climate. Topics will include household actions\, legislative work\, investments and forms of community outreach\, along with the special challenges of condo living. \n  \nThe Climate Café is a fun and informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future. SUMMARY:State and Federal Incentives for Green Technology
DESCRIPTION:Do not be deterred by this complicated topic! \n  \nThere are some huge opportunities to save money on clean energy technologies!  Drawing on excellent local and national resources (the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center\, the Green Energy Consumers Alliance\, and Rewiring America)\, EnergizeActon.org team members will summarize the tax credits and rebates available on the state and national level\, including a breakdown by technology. Easy to decipher charts and resources links will be available. \n  \nWhat is the Climate Café? Local people with experience in clean energy technology and sustainability share their insights and answer questions from others who are considering these technologies or looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprints. Each Wednesday through July and August we will consider a different topic with a technical or environmental focus.  All sessions are at the Acton Memorial Library\, from 5-6pm. Weather permitting\, we will be outdoors behind the library\, so feel free to bring a picnic or grab a slice of pizza. If it is wet\, we will be indoors in the library’s first floor meeting room. SUMMARY:Go Solar! Acton Homeowners Share Their Experiences
DESCRIPTION:With state and federal incentives\, solar panels pay back faster than ever! \n  \nJoin Matt Liebman and other local Acton homeowners to learn about the potential of solar panels on your home. Is the process complicated? Do solar panels have to face south?  What is the pay-back period for solar panels? Is it better to purchase or lease panels? What incentives are available? What about maintenance? Bring all your questions! (Matt also helped to facilitate the solar carports at Congregation Beth Elohim\, so he is familiar with solar for nonprofit institutions as well.) \n  \nEach Climate Café aims to be a helpful\, informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future.  Local people who have experience in clean energy technologies will share their insights and answer questions from others who are considering these technologies and who are exploring ways to reduce their carbon footprints. SUMMARY:Meet an Acton Clean Energy Coach
DESCRIPTION:Meet an Acton Clean Energy Coach! \nTransitioning to clean energy for our homes and cars is a great decision! But the process can be complicated. Acton’s FREE Clean Energy Coaches are standing by to help you through these changes. \n\nChat with David Martin and Jim Clark\, two of Acton’s new Clean Energy Coaches and find out about the free consultations available through this program\, sponsored by the Town’s Sustainability Office under the leadership of Director Andrea Becerra. All seven coaches are trained volunteers with personal experience transitioning to clean energy technologies.  They are ready to help other Acton residents learn about\, plan for\, and initiate actions such as the adoption of home/building weatherization\, efficient electric heat pump systems\, solar power\, electric vehicles\, and other energy adaptations to help us address climate change.   \nThis program is part of the 2023 Climate Café Series co-hosted by EnergizeActon.org and the Acton Memorial Library. The Climate Café aims to be a helpful\, informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future.  Local people who have experience in clean energy technologies will share their insights and answer questions from others who are considering these technologies and who are exploring ways to reduce their carbon footprints.  Each week in July and August will be a different focus\, with a range of technical and environmental topics. SUMMARY:Climate Café Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:A drop in the bucket? Or every action counts? \n  \nWe know that many residents may be away for the holiday week; however\, if you are in the area\, stop by the library and register your opinion. Are our actions to address global warming a drop in the bucket? Or do our actions add up to make a difference? Energize Acton volunteers would love to hear about what you are doing in your home\, workplace\, or neighborhood. What are your concerns? What hopeful efforts do you see? What would you like to see happen in Acton\, and beyond\, to address the climate emergency? \n  \nEnergize Acton and the Acton Memorial Library will have resources available\, from Town documents to good reads to online links. \n  \nThe Climate Café aims to be a helpful\, informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future.  Local people who have experience in clean energy technologies will share their insights and answer questions from others who are considering these technologies and who are exploring ways to reduce their carbon footprints.  Each week in July and August will be a different focus\, with a range of technical and environmental topics.
