Yes, you appreciate resources to decarbonize your home.
But what if you want to do MORE for the climate?
Climate Advocacy with the Acton Climate Coalition
The Scope of EnergizeActon.org––Education, Resources, Support
Currently, EnergizeActon.org is the most active wing of the Acton Climate Coalition, continuing its mission of climate education and supporting households to transition to more sustainable, clean energy lifestyles. EnergizeActon.org is also co-sponsored by the Town of Acton Sustainability Office. Community volunteers from Energize Acton meet monthly with Sustainability Office staff, sharing ideas for programs that advance decarbonization in Acton. Because the Energize website is co-sponsored by the Town of Acton, the Energize Acton team has an educational rather than advocacy mandate.
By subscribing to the Energize Acton News, you can find out about a range of local and regional climate/clean energy/environmental events and catch up on key climate information. We also welcome your participation in other ways! If you have clean energy technology in your home, you might want to be a Clean Energy Home Tour host! You could write for the Energize Acton News. How about helping to table at the Acton-Boxborough Farmers Market or Oktoberfest? Perhaps you would like to be a greeter at an event. Many of you are professionals in clean energy or environmental fields and you might like to speak at one of our “Climate Cafés.” Please contact us using this contact form, or write to EnergizeActon.org@gmail.com. Then again, perhaps you would like to do more than educate.

The Scope of the Acton Climate Coalition–-Advocacy, Legislative Action, and Broader Political Mobilization
While EnergizeActon.org focuses on education, the Acton Climate Coalition was formed to do advocacy! Its initial project was to pass a resolution at the 2020 Acton Special Fall Town Meeting — Declaring a Climate Emergency: A Better Future Starting Now. The Climate Emergency Declaration passed by an overwhelming majority!

The Acton Climate Coalition also launched the Building with Clean Energy warrant at Town Meeting 2021, which eventually allowed Acton to be one of the current nine communities in the “Fossil Fuel Free Building Demonstration Project.”
If you want to address climate issues before the Acton Select Board or at Town Meeting, please contact the Acton Climate Coalition HERE. Do you feel called to address climate legislation at the state level? The Acton Climate Coalition can also connect you with Coalition members whose goals may better fit your interests.
Finally, there are many forms of broader action on climate, ecological health, and community resilience. Although we believe in the power of education, broader action is necessary! The Acton Climate Coalition and its volunteers on the Energize Acton team (EnergizeActon.org@gmail.com) are ready to help you to connect and to act with respected groups on the local, state, national, and international levels.
